About us
Hello, I’m Trudie — and along with my husband Robin, we’re so pleased to welcome you to Alberts Dairy.
Robin’s roots in Wingfield run deep. His family has farmed here for around 300 years, with the current farm part of that story for at least half of them, originally rented from the church. Farming has always been at the heart of our lives, and while Robin now rears calves, the wider farm continues under the watchful eye of our son.
I look after Alberts Dairy day to day, with plenty of support from Robin, and we both love meeting guests and sharing a little of what makes this area so special. We’re very involved in the local community and enjoy being sociable — whether that’s a quick chat over the gate, a recommendation for a walk or pub, or swapping stories about our favourite journeys.
Outside of farm life, we both like to keep busy. Robin played a great deal of football when he was younger — these days, he’s just as competitive when it comes to a pub quiz! I regularly play racquetball nearby, and I’m currently learning to play the card game Canasta. I also have a real love of travel. A horseback journey across Mongolia to raise money for Marie Curie opened my eyes to the wider world, and since then I’ve camped in Ethiopia and even helped round up cattle on horseback in Montana — stories I’m always happy to share if you ask.
Family means everything to us. We have two children and six grandchildren, and our home is often filled with the comings and goings of family life. When the house is a little calmer, we treasure the peace and tranquillity, with field views on three sides and the gentle rhythm of the farm on the fourth.
Alberts Dairy was mainly used as storage since the 70s. We carefully converted it at the end of 2024, and it has been welcoming guests since May 2025. It’s been a joy to see the building given a new lease of life, and we hope that during your stay you’ll feel as relaxed and connected to this little corner of Suffolk as we do.
